In the spirit of Earth Day, Florida's LARGEST green building, Brickell Financial Centre, celebrated the first of many milestones breaking ground with special guests Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, Commissioner Angel Gonzalez, RTKL architect Rod Henderer and Foram Development's Loretta Cockrum. Brickell Financial Centre's start of construction puts the project at the forefront of Florida's green movement, while solidifying Miami's renewed focus on the environment. With his Miami 21 plan, a blueprint created to take Miami into the 21st century. Mayor Diaz enthusiastically joined Foram Development, a company deeply committed to sustainable building practices, in honoring Brickell Financial Centre's contribution to global green efforts.

"I was strongly considering building green, but one day, after three hours spent talking with the Mayor, I became convinced and all the more motivated that this was the right and the only thing to do," said Foram Development CEO, Loretta Cockrum.

"I commend Loretta for being a pioneer in the sustainable building movement. It is my hope that, with buildings like Brickell Financial Centre. Miami will soon become a model for the rest of the country," said Mayor Diaz.

Set to serve the city as well as the environment, the future landmark will become Miami's very own Rockefeller Center, as a 1.5 million-square-foot structure with a 30,000 square-foot public plaza that doubles as a venue for public concerts, social events and outdoor dining.
